As the County of Imperial grows and new business opportunities develop, the need for "seed" capital increases. This capital is needed to finance
business expansion projects and new business start-ups. The County of Imperial is host to some very reputable financial institutions
that provide for the SBA and conventional business loans.
However, many business owners do not meet the requirement
established by these business loan products. This is especially true of new start-up businesses that may have a viable concept,
yet do not have the acceptable credit or collateral requirements.
Imperial County Community & Economic Developmenthas stepped in to fill that gap by establishing a micro-enterprise loan program using Community
Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding. Financial risks are reduced by linking funding to the completion of entrepreneurial
training and technical assistance provided by the SBDC. Theses trainings are known as the NxLevel Trainings.
